Due to our location, Zamas would be a great starting spot to view the Mayan Ruins as well as all of the lagoons and cenotes in the area. You are also very close to the Si'an Kaan Reserve. At Si'an Kaan you can swim in fresh water lagoons and do some incredible bird watching.
You have two great options if you want to visit our lagoons. Xel-Ha is commonly known as 'The World's Largest Aquarium'. This is a natural lagoon with a 'floating bridge'. It can be crowded, a good alternative would be Yal Ku, this is a smaller version of Xel-Ha but it is just as much fun.
If all the touring has got you tired, you can find enough adventure right outside your front door at Zamas. When the ocean is calm you can snorkel all day, you will be able to see a variety of fish and coral. The reef is about 200 meters from the shore, and boat tours can be arranged. And as another treat, about 20 meters in the ocean, north of the restaurant, is a shipwreck where many tropical fish have made their home.
Please note that Zamas does not accept credit cards, you may pay with Travelers Checks, Cash or Pesos. Also, it is wise to bring a flashlight (street lights are few) mosquito repellent, sun block and something warm to where for those cool winter nights. At Zamas, we will do whatever we can to make your stay here a memorable one, we are here, what are you waiting for?
