Time marches on ......
The Albatros Royale was built in 1997 and was owned by Sam Bread. Sam had followed his brother Larry (preivous owner of the Pelicano Inn) to Playa in 1980's. Sam operated the Albatros Royale for 8 years with it being one of the first better quality hotels on the beach in the early days of Playa. The hotel was bought in 2005 by the owners of Mosquito Blue, located at 5th Ave & Calle 12 and under went mahor renovations to be re-opened in 2006 as Mosquito Beach. The new hotel is upscale, edgy and a new feeling for the beach.
Like the free-flying ocean bird for which we are named, a hallmark of your stay at The Albatros Hotel is the infinite variety of the experience.
You can fill your days with visits to the archaeological sites, the snorkeling lagoons, the nature preserves, the aviary, the botanical garden Cozumel Island across the channel. You can take in the eco-archaeological park at Xcaret and swim with the dolphins. There's a fine 18-hole golf course nearby and tennis courts.
Or you can take part in our #1 event...doing nothing! The town boasts a galaxy of restaurants featuring the traditional and the exotic and all with a generous array of catch-of-the-day seafood.
Evenings offer a smattering of night life to your pick of music from reggae to rock to the blaring mariachi to the strolling guitars. Shops stay open to about 10PM. Or...just stroll the beach under the moon and stars cooled by the sea-breezes, and know that this is what it's all about.
