Copal Cabanas exceeded our expectations. We wanted a rustic place on the beach, this place just rocked. Especially being right on the Caribbean Sea. The sun woke us up in the morning and the wind and waves lulled us to sleep at night. We even met new friends from Amsterdam, they're probably still there. Lucky them!!!

Hotel was great, but but we had trouble contacting the hotel. We arrived a day late due to a flight cancellation, and not being able to call the hotel easily, our room had been given away, despite the fact we had paid in advance. Not a good start to a holiday. The hotel did however provide us a room in the same class and the visit was enjoyable
Cabanas Copal was beautiful. The beach was the best around and the grounds were amazing and well maintained, and manicured. The cabana was charming and rustic, just as we had hoped for. The only thing that felt less than clean was the bedding. A bit stained and a slight smell of dampness, perhaps unavoidable because of the moist sea air. The mattresses were very much in nieed of replacing. One had a metal thing poking up and they looked very worn out and dirty. Most of the staff were pleasant, one was crabby and several were fantastically fun and helpful. We ran out of toilet paper once and had to ask several times for more. The same with our water. However we managed to remedy the situation with little trouble. I would love to go back to this area which is amazing and would even choose to return to Copal. We LOVED it!
Our stay surpassed our expectations. We loved the simplicity of the accommodation, location and above all the friendliness of the people. Would definitely return. Taxis service to and from airport arranged by yourselves was also excellent service. Mexico has a lot to offer. The wildlife is exceptional but as you say in the info. if you don't like wildlife perhaps this is not the place for you. Good to warn people. Loved the alternative therapies that were on offer too.
